Air Fry Croquettes

Can You Air Fry or Bake Croquettes?

Short answer: You can try — but you shouldn’t.

Catalina croquettes are made to be deep-fried. That’s how you get the golden crust, creamy center, and full flavor they’re known for. Air frying might work for other frozen snacks, but it doesn’t do our products justice.

Why Frying Matters

Breaded foods are designed for oil immersion. It’s not just about crispness — it’s about even heat transfer. Our croquettes are sold raw, not par-cooked, and they need high, direct heat to cook properly.

“Can Catalina croquettes be cooked in the oven?”

You could, theoretically. But like all breaded foods, they’re meant to be deep-fried for that special golden crunch.

What Happens When You Air Fry Breaded Foods?

Air-frying might crisp the outside a little, but it doesn’t give breaded foods the high heat immersion they need to cook evenly and develop the right texture. The outside dries out before the center fully cooks. You might end up with croquettes that are pale, tough, or still cold inside.

Breaded foods — especially croquettes with a creamy filling — are designed to be **fully surrounded by hot oil**. That’s what gives them their signature golden crunch, even cook, and satisfying bite.

Air frying just doesn’t cut it.

The Only Exception: Our Par-Fried Croquettes

Catalina now offers **par-fried croquettes** in ham, chicken, and cheese — developed specifically for air fryer or oven finishing. These can work well in non-fryer environments, but even these benefit from deep frying for best texture.

For Best Results: Fry From Frozen

– Croquettes: 5–6 minutes at 350°F

– Cheese Yuca Bites: 4–5 minutes at 350°F

– Do not thaw. Let rest 2 minutes after frying.

> Crisp, creamy, golden perfection? Only if you fry it.
