Our classic Papas Rellenas are comfort food the Catalina way. A savory beef and pork picadillo center wrapped in mashed potatoes and breaded just right for the perfect bite!
Pro tip: dip them in ketchup with a bit of lime juice for extra goodness.


Cooking Instructions

Deep fry for best results. Can be pan-fried.
Thaw potato balls for 30 minutes prior to cooking. Fill a medium-size sauce pan halfway with your favorite cooking oil. Preheat oil to 350°F. Fry potato balls for 5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oil and place on plate with paper towels for 2 minutes to allow heat to settle.
Do not overfill pan, and do not fry more than 3-4 potato balls at a time.
Minimum internal temperature should reach 165°F.

To pan-fry, place 1/2" of oil in a skillet pan, preheat over medium heat, and cook potato balls for 6 minutes, turning frequently for even cooking. Remove from pan and place on a plate with paper towls for 2 minutes to allow heat to settle.

Are Catalina Papas Rellenas fully cooked?

No — fillings are par-cooked but the breading is not cooked, and they should be cooked before eating. We recommend deep frying from frozen.
